中央电视台新闻频道（频道呼号：CCTV-13 新闻）是以播送新闻、评论、访谈节目为主的电视频道，于2003年5月1日起试播，并于7月1日起正式播出。 2005年3月1日，该频道第一次改版，更换了《天气·资讯》、《每周质量报告》、《新闻社区》、《共同关注》等多个节目的包装。2006年6月5日，该频道第二次改版（第二次大改版），频道包装及栏目片头开始统一换为黄色调。2009年7月29日至8月17日，该频道第三次改版(第三次大改版)，是该频道中使用时间最长的包装，开始朝资讯化的方向发展。2015年1月6日，该频道第四次大改版（从0时开播的《午夜新闻》开始，至6时《朝闻天下》前结束（高清开播除外））
