SCTV-8（四川电视台科技教育频道）（暨四川教育电视台），创办于1998年，隶属于四川省教育厅，并接受四川省广播电影电视局的行业管理，是西南地区唯一一个省级专业教育电视频道，本频道在国家实施科教兴国战略前提下，面对西部大开发的良好发展机遇和我省教育产业化的大趋势下，以立足大教育、面向全社会、投身改革开放、服务经济发展为宗旨，以传播先进思想、推广科学技术、弘扬民族文化、培养“四有”新人为目标，频道设置教学、新闻、科技、天气预报、娱乐欣赏、影视六大类，覆盖范围500平方公里，覆盖人口3000万。电视节目信号从2006年起，已通过四川省干线光纤网直达全省各市、州，并将逐步覆盖四川省全境。
