1995年1月16日， 自治区广播电视厅关于同意河池地区建立金城江电视台的意见呈报广播电影电视部:中共河池地委、河池地区行署决定筹建金城江电视台，已筹集资金600万元，定编人员50人， 计划每年正常经费50万元。同年4月17日，广播电影电视部社会管理司、科技司批复同意河池地区建立电视台，呼号为“河池电视台”，隶属河池地区广播电视局领导，台址在河池地区金城江乾独山，发射机功率3千瓦，发射频道: DS-3。铁塔高度50米。同年7月14日开始试播， 8月1日正式播出。
