宁夏教育电视台是公益性质的省级专业电视台，始终坚持“立足大教育、突出青少年、服务全社会”的办台宗旨，充分利用电视、网站和微信多种平台，宣传教育工作、普及科学知识、传播先进文化，努力搭建覆盖全社会的公共教育文化服务平台。 甯夏回族自治区电化教育中心前身是甯夏电化教育馆，始建于1979年，1989年增挂甯夏教育电视台牌子。1999年自治区机构改革，将原甯夏电化教育馆和甯夏卫星教育办公室合并成立了甯夏电化教育中心。甯夏电化教育中心与甯夏教育电视台合署办公，隶属于自治区教育厅，实行“一套机构，两块牌子”的运行模式。
