1980年7月随着兴安盟复建，兴安人民广播电台也开始筹建，1982年6月1日正式开始播音。伴随着祖国改革开放三十年的步伐，兴安人民广播电台也走过了近三十年的历程，经过三十年的建设发展，今天已成为具有内蒙古东部地域特色、民族特色的地方广播电台。
兴安人民广播电台现有职工66名，其中党员36名，中高级职称编、采、播、技术人员31名，招聘人员33名。目前办有891千赫汉语新闻综合《兴安之声》广播、1152千赫蒙语新闻综合《阿拉腾兴安》广播、99兆赫《交通之声》广播、106.8兆赫《都市之声》等四套广播，全天播音72.05小时。
兴安人民广播电台蒙汉语新闻综合广播，坚持突出新闻，精办栏目 以服务中心工作，服务地方发展，服务百姓生活为宗旨，以新闻时政为主体，走新闻立台之路；调频立体声广播《交通之声》，《都市之声》突出交通信息资讯和为百姓生活服务的特点，注意节目的服务性、参与性、知识性、娱乐性。全台各套节目以其丰富多彩、特色鲜明的广播，引导舆论、传播信息、娱乐生活，提供服务，为促进兴安盟两个文明建设发挥重要作用。
一个光缆传送、固态发射、数字编播、节目上网，信号覆盖130万人口的兴安广播的崭新时代已到来，新世纪为广播开辟了更加广阔的发展前景，兴安广播电台愿与各界听众一起共同创造美好的未来。
