Introduction to CCTV-4中文国际美洲
2007年1月1日，基于海外国际电视网的发展态势，依据当地观众收视习惯和收视需求，CCTV4分频为亚洲版、欧洲版和美洲版。这是自1992年CCTV4开播以来首次分版播出。经过这次扩版，亚洲、欧洲、美洲以及相应卫星电视覆盖的地区观众可收看到与当地作息时间及收视习惯相适应的电视节目。
1月19日，中央电视台举行长城北美平台在加拿大落地签字仪式。2月15日，中国电视长城（加拿大）平台在加拿大落地开播，4月17日正式开播，开播初期集成的频道包括CCTV4美洲版。12月31日，香港亚洲电视的一条数码频道开始转播CCTV4亚洲版，覆盖香港全境。
2011年1月1日，CCTV4与央视其它频道一起微调标志，电视台标改为“英语缩写+数字+中文标识”的形式：“CCTV4中文国际”，亚洲版、欧洲版、美洲版三版共用。
2011年5月19日，长城（欧洲）平台进入法国最大数字有线网试播，这是长城平台首次进入欧洲有线电视网，基本实现长城平台和CCTV4欧洲版等在法国的全面覆盖，并覆盖比利时和卢森堡。当年7月，CCTV4美洲版在加拿大整频道落地。10月26日，CCTV4美洲版正式落地纽约联合国总部，在其内部电视系统中播出，此次落地填补了该系统内没有中文电视频道的空白。
