Introduction to 佛教慧日电视台
宁波人杰地灵古刹众多，慧日禅寺因仰仗三宝慈光、诸佛菩萨加被及特殊的风水宝地和优美胜景，加之以人文历史……驰名中外，该寺位于鄞州区瞻岐镇东一村，滨东海象山港距宁波市区35公里，站在寺门前的山上就可眺望佛教圣地普陀山，背靠千年古刹天童禅寺、阿育王寺，慧日禅寺的前身慧日庵始建于天福五年（940年），距今一千多年。当时瞻岐还没有人烟，海水的水位比较高还是一片滩涂地，有游方僧喜欢幽静在此结茅为庐，独身修行，这就是最早的广修寺。
明朝万历年间成为培德堂族人的香火庵，并易名为“慧日庵”。
20世纪70年代松乘老和尚圆寂于此。
1997年春，台湾慧济寺住持性海法师经多方打听，获知其幼年出家之地瞻岐慧日庵旧址尚存的讯息，甚为兴奋。遂于同年7月亲赴大陆，在实地考察瞻岐后，决心重续前缘。
1999年2月，性海法师慷慨捐赠人民币1500万元，动工兴建新的慧日禅寺。历时四年余，一座规模宏大的慧日禅寺正式落成。劈山添溪后的新寺，面积扩大至二十余亩。
2003年5月上传下喜法师受政府和佛教界的邀请来此主持慧日寺。经过5年的扩建，十方信众的支持，又投资200多万元，进行规划建设。今天的慧日禅寺以占地30余亩，是国家批准的合法寺院。为众多佛教信仰者、文化工作者，以及台胞、侨胞、等各界人士所赞扬。
