央视微电影频道是由中央新闻纪录片厂（中央新影集团）主管的一个中央电视台基于互联网平台的，以微电影形式和原创影视内容为主流的发布平台。
中央新影微电影台、央视微电影频道于2013年5月18日正式上线开通，是由中央电视台中央新影集团、中国网络电视台、中央新影微电影文化发展基金联合打造的中国第一个专业微电影互联视网平台。
作为央视网络媒体的重要组成部分，中央新影微电影台、央视微电影频道将着眼广博的视野，充分利用中央电视台中央新影的专业优势，拍摄制作一批有思想深度、精致艺术品位、多元表现形式、思想健康、为社会提供正能量的高质量微电影作品丰富频道内容。与此同时，央视微电影频道将以最前沿的、最迅速的反应对国际国内微电影发展信息及成果进行传播报道；着力为用户提供包括微电影视频直播、点播、上传、搜索、分享等方便快捷的多功能服务，使其真正成为国际国内微电影视频发布和播放的最重要的互联网平台。
中央新影微电影台、央视微电影频道上线后，将同步开展一系列自创节目的拍摄制作，前期启动了艺术重现中国灿烂文化的《唐代诗词故事108部系列微电影》、反映当代中国精神的励志微电影《中国梦》、大型竞赛型真人秀项目——“美丽中国极拍48小时城市微电影竞赛”等系列作品节目类型。频道除开设重点的精品栏目外、还将建设微影院、推出微好榜、打造微电影梦工场，融微电影播放、制作、评价、交流为一体，使其真正成为微电影爱好者的乐园。
