《第一剧场》频道是央视首批开播的六个数字电视付费频道之一，于2004年8月9日正式播出。从2005年1月1日起，在《第一剧场》频道中正式开播“热门影院”栏目，每周一至周日，除每晚黄金时间22：00档的两部好莱坞大片外，午间11：00加播一部好莱坞热播原声影片。周六、日13：00更有《环球影院》继续接力，锁定欧美亚洲各国精彩剧集，奉献寰球精彩剧集，好片连映不间断。目前，频道全天形成了“魅力剧场+热门影院”的编排结构，重点突出国内高收视率的都市言情剧和好莱坞的优秀影片
