阿拉善左旗电视台的前身可追溯至 1981 年初建立的阿拉善电视台，1986 年经国家广播电影电视部正式批准建台并开始播出自办节目，作为阿拉善左旗重要的新闻宣传阵地，始终坚持 “节目立台” 工作方针，内设办公室、总编室、新闻中心等 8 个部室及多个特色栏目，开办新闻综合、经济生活两套自办节目，涵盖汉蒙双语新闻、民生访谈、纪录片赏析等多元内容，通过不断升级技术设备、扩大发射功率，实现节目覆盖全盟三旗及各苏木镇、经济开发区，覆盖收视人口 15 万，累计产出大量优质新闻与专题作品，多次获全国及自治区级奖项，为宣传阿拉善左旗、促进地方经济社会发展与民族文化传播作出了积极贡献。
