宣城市广播电视台于2010年9月组建成立，为市委市政府直属事业单位。下设新闻综合频道、经济生活频道、综艺频道、文房四宝频道、宣城新闻广播、宣城交通广播和宣城市广播电视台新媒体中心，直属管理宣城广播电视报社、宣城新闻网、网络传输中心三个二级事业单位和宣城广电文化产业有限公司，内设办公室、总编室、外宣办、技术播出部、广告中心。
宣城市广播电视台拥有广播、电视、报纸、网络、新媒体五大传媒平台，承担着党政方针政策宣传报道、新闻传播、社会教育、文化娱乐、民生服务等多项职能，肩负着发展文化产业与广电公共服务职能，是宣城受众获取信息的主流渠道，也是宣城走向世界、世界了解宣城的重要窗口。目前，全台日播出广播节目36小时、电视节目90余小时。电视有效覆盖全市，广播有效覆盖半径100公里，两套节目覆盖全市及南京、合肥、芜湖、黄山等周边地区，有效覆盖人口800-1000余万。
