襄阳电视台，1978年12月开始转播中央电视台节目，1986年6月经广电部批准以"襄阳电视台"呼号自办节目。是经广电部批准建立的地市级电视台，1977年11月1日开始试转湖北电视台节目。
襄阳电视台现有员工300余人，技术力量雄厚，除自办四套节目外，还担负着中央台和省台节目的转播以及省广播电视信号通过微波向鄂西北地区中转的任务。襄阳电视台一套、二套、三套节目信号，目前已通过光缆传送到辖区各县市，其中：一套、二套节目覆盖人口一千多万，第四套节目也通过有线网络在市区实现了有效覆盖。
